Standing: - 4.Solomon 5.Isidore 6.Harry Numan Barotz was the first brother to come to America with his cousin Solomon Kipness. He sponsored and assisted his four brothers and their families to reach their destination - the United States of America.
Donor’s caption reads “Five Barotz brothers (early 1920’s) worked together in a family business called “Star Import Company*. After a few years they branched out and started their own individual companies with their offspring. e.g. Louis Barotz started Seaboard Import Company which in time employed his four sons-in laws and daughters ( first at 97 Orchard Street and later moving to larger quarters on 23rd Street) wholesaling Costume Jewelry and cultured pearls. Isidore Barotz went into the trade and production of zippers. The other brothers opened related enterprises with their families.
